Located in picturesque Asheville, North Carolina, Biltmore House was envisioned and commissioned by George W. Vanderbilt in the late 1800’s. Completed in 1895 with 250 rooms and four acres of floor space, America’s largest home® was designed by renowned architect Richard Morris Hunt. Today, the French Renaissance chateau exhibits the Vanderbilt family’s original collection of furnishings, antiques and art by masters such as Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Giovanni Boldini and John Singer Sargent.

In 1930, the Vanderbilt family opened the estate to the public to generate tourism – allowing Biltmore’s legacy to live on. In 1963, Biltmore was named a National Historic Landmark. Still family owned and operated, the Biltmore welcomes more than one million guests per year and continues to inspire all who see it.

The Biltmore Collection for Artaissance is comprised of almost 300 images taken directly from the pages of Mr. Vanderbilt’s prized book collection. Rich in history and grandeur, the stately Library of Biltmore House is home to over 10,000 of the 23,000 books collected by Vanderbilt. As a fervent intellectual, his passion for knowledge began at a very early age. Throughout his lifetime, he accumulated a collection representing his abundant interests, including architecture, nature, travel and art.
